Most of the talk around here is about sewing and quilty things; but, from time to time, I'll throw in a few little details of life here in Ohio! You an read about all the great charities to choose from this year at <a href="https://confessionsofafabricaddict.blogspot.com/p/hands2help-2020.html" target="_blank">Confessions of a Fabric Addict </a>. Sarah started and has hosted this great quilt drive for all 10 years: she is an amazing person!<br />
<br />
Today is May 19th, I see that I started this post on March 12th, just before my world went to hell in a handbasket: Corona, I trumped you March 26th, with the death of my husband and my breast cancer mastectomy surgery on the very same day!<br />
<br />
I have always said that quilting was my therapy and it <u>continues</u> to be my therapy.<br />
<br />

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have also put my quilting aside, made and donated over a hundred masks.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nTBZ25yvHGI/XsQSKXev-oI/AAAAAAAARG0/-ggxbBdhAM8LXbjKzqofvnDcx8Y5yJs6wCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/91503010_2975407939182962_308190884472553472_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="720" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nTBZ25yvHGI/XsQSKXev-oI/AAAAAAAARG0/-ggxbBdhAM8LXbjKzqofvnDcx8Y5yJs6wCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/91503010_2975407939182962_308190884472553472_n.jpg" width="240" /></a><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RoPsFMS2-ic/XsQSGJVc1aI/AAAAAAAARG4/DsfZ_tYp_qMEBmA63gxLgUys0Xde5uChACPcBGAYYCw/s1600/90295964_2971739266216496_7983199023248965632_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="720" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RoPsFMS2-ic/XsQSGJVc1aI/AAAAAAAARG4/DsfZ_tYp_qMEBmA63gxLgUys0Xde5uChACPcBGAYYCw/s320/90295964_2971739266216496_7983199023248965632_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
In addition, my therapy consisted of defrosting the garage deep-freezer, cleaning out the entire garage, painting the spare bedroom, repeatedly mowing the lawn, planting the garden, setting up my drip system for my deck plants and getting my planters full of colorful flowers for summer.</div>

Mercyful Quilts give quilts to people as they approach the end of life. Later the quilt goes with the family. I found these 12 purple blocks in a bag of fabrics I bought at a garage sale last summer. I think it is fitting that these blocks were made by a lady who was selling all her sewing supplies so she could enter an assisted living center. I think she might be pleased to know that her efforts are being passed along to another person in need of a "Quilty Hug."</span><br />

I have had a few scraps left from an earlier <a href="http://bunkhousequilts.blogspot.com/2013/11/the-dirty-teams.html" target="_blank">construction quilt.</a> </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
. . .this quilt became 54 x 54.</div>

Two more quilts made from a garage sale rescue. What you see here is what I got...just a collection of strips.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rbDWeKy3eqQ/XIbJUepiroI/AAAAAAAAQpQ/vT4cqU2CXo4iAO47yMHIQx6q9Nd4OLsogCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_6371.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rbDWeKy3eqQ/XIbJUepiroI/AAAAAAAAQpQ/vT4cqU2CXo4iAO47yMHIQx6q9Nd4OLsogCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_6371.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
#1) The blue strips were just short of making a nice outer border so I added these corner stones from my stash.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IkYhQVFp5JQ/XIbJUQLaQ0I/AAAAAAAAQpU/maQGkY7nrB0W1syGWx25ok5gryBfr_MqACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_6379.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IkYhQVFp5JQ/XIbJUQLaQ0I/AAAAAAAAQpU/maQGkY7nrB0W1syGWx25ok5gryBfr_MqACLcBGAs/s320/IMG_6379.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I had just barely enough green minky from another quilt to put on the back.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-60X1zcvlQd0/XIbJXRzIp3I/AAAAAAAAQpk/ATKIIOeg6DkAGk0vRHaJ7Jsf9QH3CLGrACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_6384.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-60X1zcvlQd0/XIbJXRzIp3I/AAAAAAAAQpk/ATKIIOeg6DkAGk0vRHaJ7Jsf9QH3CLGrACLcBGAs/s640/IMG_6384.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
#2) After using everything but the last 4 animal strips on the first quilt, I had to shop in my stash an alternative for this quilt. Last year I was given a jelly roll of Moda Grunge Dots. I haven't used any of them yet. I pulled out all the pastels and they made perfect little separators for these remaining strips. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-MonGym2k198/XIbNh8f_r5I/AAAAAAAAQqc/6Vo-zkvSJJwIDo71CfLmHssyjatUBo9OgCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_6393.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1347" data-original-width="1438" height="598" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-MonGym2k198/XIbNh8f_r5I/AAAAAAAAQqc/6Vo-zkvSJJwIDo71CfLmHssyjatUBo9OgCEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_6393.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I also dug out this retro flannel for the backing.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yy9XYnptOgA/XIbJZwzljBI/AAAAAAAAQp0/PZ7CMkdlKfw3ZmUYZ_7ckn1c0RYIukhkACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_6396.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yy9XYnptOgA/XIbJZwzljBI/AAAAAAAAQp0/PZ7CMkdlKfw3ZmUYZ_7ckn1c0RYIukhkACLcBGAs/s640/IMG_6396.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
More dots for the binding. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-F-_mJ7DtpUI/XIbOJ_CPMUI/AAAAAAAAQqk/E2-VvC1o2xUlLP2tNADbPNrYyiCqw-ssACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_6397.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1561" data-original-width="1503" height="640" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-F-_mJ7DtpUI/XIbOJ_CPMUI/AAAAAAAAQqk/E2-VvC1o2xUlLP2tNADbPNrYyiCqw-ssACLcBGAs/s640/IMG_6397.jpg" width="616" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Another set of spring sunshine quilts in the books.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I've never been a Sunbonnet Sue fan, but this is sweet . . . with the rosebud background.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
Pretty fun fabrics here.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xLOen0q5a5Q/XIXDO01SIkI/AAAAAAAAQnQ/mbHUOxWKI64hqmCu-laL78RCyxQTzVABgCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_6289.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xLOen0q5a5Q/XIXDO01SIkI/AAAAAAAAQnQ/mbHUOxWKI64hqmCu-laL78RCyxQTzVABgCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_6289.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
This first quilt was made from a single piece of fabric in the center and that set the tone for the size and use of the rest of the fabrics. I had just enough white to put in a border and also use it for the backing. There was a lot of the blue stripe for the second border and to piece the backing.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-g9OJXukdFBQ/XIXDQlNNSmI/AAAAAAAAQnc/XjPRqCDWX307h-oHUEtqb2wQ_iouhh2EQCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_6308.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-g9OJXukdFBQ/XIXDQlNNSmI/AAAAAAAAQnc/XjPRqCDWX307h-oHUEtqb2wQ_iouhh2EQCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_6308.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Lots of fun creatures to look at on this little quilt.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JvCDNVs4Cns/XIXDPGQckBI/AAAAAAAAQnU/pDfhNEL1MU4bHeurS6NI5-Vcgiyw-lGGQCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_6307.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JvCDNVs4Cns/XIXDPGQckBI/AAAAAAAAQnU/pDfhNEL1MU4bHeurS6NI5-Vcgiyw-lGGQCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_6307.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hmsoPsfJ4D8/XIXDSIJqozI/AAAAAAAAQng/dtUyrrR4fHMu9nxoyRqZiyREj06Q7zSAwCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_6309.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hmsoPsfJ4D8/XIXDSIJqozI/AAAAAAAAQng/dtUyrrR4fHMu9nxoyRqZiyREj06Q7zSAwCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_6309.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Quilt number 2 made use of all the pieces left over from the remaining scraps. I needed a sashing and a border and went shopping in my stash and couldn't seem to find the right blue, the right pink or the right yellow.<br />
<br />
<br />
Surprise, surprise . . . here was a matching green that was perfect. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-eTFfzJRnHTo/XIXGWm_vJuI/AAAAAAAAQoM/WAaeoEs2Z4QqZ3bY670Ur1cLGqmx4x8LQCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_6312%2B-%2BCopy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="482" data-original-width="1089" height="282" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-eTFfzJRnHTo/XIXGWm_vJuI/AAAAAAAAQoM/WAaeoEs2Z4QqZ3bY670Ur1cLGqmx4x8LQCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_6312%2B-%2BCopy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
Since I had oodles of the blue stripe, I was able to made bias binding for both quits. I love bias stripes.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zuybyP5cGLY/XIXDURbA2yI/AAAAAAAAQns/AR-KycxBLy0amR8C39Ff9RxTvRhCmi_5gCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_6313.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zuybyP5cGLY/XIXDURbA2yI/AAAAAAAAQns/AR-KycxBLy0amR8C39Ff9RxTvRhCmi_5gCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_6313.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I added the last piece of Minky from a bolt I had on the shelf. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It dresses it up a bit.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Pz_8dwxGxqQ/XIXDSx4tKZI/AAAAAAAAQno/eE0UyvEv0wgG2Ej0puzBWVkJWk_lWsbfgCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_6312.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Pz_8dwxGxqQ/XIXDSx4tKZI/AAAAAAAAQno/eE0UyvEv0wgG2Ej0puzBWVkJWk_lWsbfgCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_6312.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Rescue Quilts? Yes, I rescued these fabrics from a garage sale table.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here's a PSA to ya'll.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Use your fabric!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Don't just buy it and pet it. Make something for someone: family, friends, charity, veterans or donate it to charities that do make quilts. If you don't use it, your stash will be going to the curb someday--piled on your kid's garage sale table where someone like me (that really needs to use up her own stash first 😏) will buy it and make quilts.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Too cute to cut, so I just kept it whole and put some pink flannel on the back, then dressed it up with a fleece binding.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FgPiMCgsq7o/XIUnq94UiuI/AAAAAAAAQlU/zdRH_EVS6Xks5lf9va9grJkmMMqid4A9QCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_5967.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FgPiMCgsq7o/XIUnq94UiuI/AAAAAAAAQlU/zdRH_EVS6Xks5lf9va9grJkmMMqid4A9QCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_5967.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4a0NumdCA4Y/XIUnqs-E8NI/AAAAAAAAQlQ/zOoCmSHmGI09k1Eommq_nHzCArxD_ap0QCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_5990.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4a0NumdCA4Y/XIUnqs-E8NI/AAAAAAAAQlQ/zOoCmSHmGI09k1Eommq_nHzCArxD_ap0QCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_5990.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Another cute yardage I kept whole</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XPa3Eaf6fto/XIUntG3wBBI/AAAAAAAAQlY/vDu_iRT1nQYXkfDqb0jzDvBK40kfKF1AACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_5993.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XPa3Eaf6fto/XIUntG3wBBI/AAAAAAAAQlY/vDu_iRT1nQYXkfDqb0jzDvBK40kfKF1AACLcBGAs/s640/IMG_5993.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

Now this fabric has a purpose . . .</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It has finally become a quilt!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If you go back through some of my older posts you can see that I have been working on this for years!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
I sure do love this scalloped edge and all that's left is to bind it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I marked the scallops before I put it on the frame and stay stitched along the scallop line as I quilted. After I took it off the frame, I cut the scallops. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I probably won't bind it till next fall/winter.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am so busy making other quilts, </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am just going to let this rest a few more months.</div>

It's a beautiful 70 degrees out side, and I am in my basement quilting. I have to go to the dentist at 1pm today, so I can't get down and dirty in my garden till this afternoon.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Stitch in the ditch done for one diamond/vine strip.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This morning, I am adding the back-fill to make the patchwork and applique pop.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I may just like this quilt a little bit. 😏</div>

It's going to take me awhile to finish this quilt, so I thought I had best give it a name.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm calling it Diamonds in the Garden (an unloved kit).</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1YP8rFDGJ-s/WwL0VKU8NTI/AAAAAAAAQUU/CFNhi2KtMFw5naaEPaLIVRmMCntWvY2oQCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_2994.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1YP8rFDGJ-s/WwL0VKU8NTI/AAAAAAAAQUU/CFNhi2KtMFw5naaEPaLIVRmMCntWvY2oQCEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_2994.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I started it about 10 years ago. It was a deep discount from Connecting Threads, a <u>kit </u>that was on their discontinued/sale page. I was a beginning quilter and I thought it would be a good practice quilt. Ha! I was too busy quilting to finish this top.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
When I cleaned out my studio last year I <i>rediscovered</i> it and wasn't any more excited about it than I was 10 years ago.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This was what I found:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cqWw5P34dCA/WwL0TAKJwrI/AAAAAAAAQUo/EPlwDdWpcAw5x6J_4zZ9ROeW5ggFykAyACEwYBhgL/s1600/18619957_1460150360708735_8799236187668767416_n%2B%25282%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="247" data-original-width="388" height="253" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cqWw5P34dCA/WwL0TAKJwrI/AAAAAAAAQUo/EPlwDdWpcAw5x6J_4zZ9ROeW5ggFykAyACEwYBhgL/s400/18619957_1460150360708735_8799236187668767416_n%2B%25282%2529.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I had all the diamond strips pieced and the rest was still in folded fat quarters and yardage! I had long since lost (I probably tossed it) the pattern, but remembered that there were folk-art applique flowers meandering through the negative spaces. They are easy to make, so I just winged it there. I did all the applique and I was sick of it by then, so I put it away for another year.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
April 30th, 2018, I decided I would publicly declare my intent to finish this unloved kit by using it as my May, One Monthly Goal.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CbMy3Cwv5kE/WwMFI_6gw2I/AAAAAAAAQV4/9LIKC69YSGwnHUINeYhTsNxloeNYNmY4ACLcBGAs/s1600/OMG%2B2018%2BBlog%2Blogo%2Bmay.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="400" data-original-width="400" height="200" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CbMy3Cwv5kE/WwMFI_6gw2I/AAAAAAAAQV4/9LIKC69YSGwnHUINeYhTsNxloeNYNmY4ACLcBGAs/s200/OMG%2B2018%2BBlog%2Blogo%2Bmay.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I got out the fabric for the border and didn't like it at all.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-F2zSydEWfgM/WwL59AP_43I/AAAAAAAAQVU/83tKRQWjomIfdgxqHQ9pCQXnYoiwIuOZgCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_3502%2B%25282%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="799" data-original-width="957" height="534" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-F2zSydEWfgM/WwL59AP_43I/AAAAAAAAQVU/83tKRQWjomIfdgxqHQ9pCQXnYoiwIuOZgCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_3502%2B%25282%2529.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Still, I used it . . . and it's growing on me.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I used up all the border fabric and it made a huge 8-inch border. I had precut the 2 inch blue binding as the pattern must have told me to to do....something I would <i>never </i>do today.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Still, I am not too excited about this top. I just let it hang for about a week , it just doesn't look ready to quilt . . . should I cut down this large border? It just needs something!! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I envisioned the matching blue binding just making another large blue square WAY out there at the end of that 8 inch border.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UR1hJ12xUBE/WwL7EshydSI/AAAAAAAAQVc/tyKAgzPNvxg8d-7rBaNemvcZ8jwHB31xQCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_2994%2B%25282%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="614" data-original-width="656" height="598" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UR1hJ12xUBE/WwL7EshydSI/AAAAAAAAQVc/tyKAgzPNvxg8d-7rBaNemvcZ8jwHB31xQCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_2994%2B%25282%2529.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My brain must have worked on it all night, because when I got up, I knew I was going to <u>scallop </u>the edge and cut brand new bias binding in blue.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I had just the tool to make it happen. I bought this at my very first quilt show. I bought a lot of stuff in the beginning that I have never used! 😟</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
But here we are, and I got it out and read how to use it. The directions were pretty confusing and not enough detail for me to figure out how to divide my 91¾ x 69⅜ inch quilt top so all the scallops on the sides were the same size as the top and bottom....and how do I make the corner fit into the divisions?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Sheesh....I took Calculus in college, but this "easy scallop tool" was beyond me.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dg8_Hfn_bBM/WwL0U3dXM8I/AAAAAAAAQUs/XryeI9uTbqAk4a6eS8vxOWSEDYfx99JEQCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_3501.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dg8_Hfn_bBM/WwL0U3dXM8I/AAAAAAAAQUs/XryeI9uTbqAk4a6eS8vxOWSEDYfx99JEQCEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_3501.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I Googled a video and it was simple, I just needed an explanation how to do the corners and where to start measuring. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is the best video I found: <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEPQuJK0b20" target="_blank">Easy Scallop</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Once I got the scallops marked, I also marked the piano-key quilt lines. This brought me to another question, how will I do the corners? If I <i>fan </i>the piano keys out around the corner, all 10 of them will start from the same inside point<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZV_Wus52tNI/WwL0V8mgi9I/AAAAAAAAQU0/XDaXQ1OvChsoetSS8LgHIM8VXCa014f1QCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_3502.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZV_Wus52tNI/WwL0V8mgi9I/AAAAAAAAQU0/XDaXQ1OvChsoetSS8LgHIM8VXCa014f1QCEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_3502.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
which will make the quilt stick up like a tent when it's all done. I decided, since this is a whimsical quilt, I will stick in a matching flower in each corner to make a larger place for the fan lines to start and stop. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-RrujMJHYuZc/WwL0Xh7VqZI/AAAAAAAAQU4/E7Lk-yIu4Osp-XhuoTOvsw2QBhrxnHy8ACEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_3505.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-RrujMJHYuZc/WwL0Xh7VqZI/AAAAAAAAQU4/E7Lk-yIu4Osp-XhuoTOvsw2QBhrxnHy8ACEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_3505.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This morning, I quilted the top border and stitched-in-the-ditch the first sashing and first row of diamonds. I used Dream Puff batting, as I plan to do a lot of quilting in the neutral spaces and want the diamonds and applique to puff.</div>

I love working in my yard and garden!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-X4uzSt4-LXI/Wv2OVq4MLcI/AAAAAAAAQTY/JBH2yM8n3nYIrDUrq8ua9CA7Q1iX4OqJACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20150604_120108_006.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-X4uzSt4-LXI/Wv2OVq4MLcI/AAAAAAAAQTY/JBH2yM8n3nYIrDUrq8ua9CA7Q1iX4OqJACLcBGAs/s640/IMG_20150604_120108_006.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
But, a few chilly mornings have kept me at the sewing machine to finish my:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TqcjMjO0FzE/Wv2v5Rjp-pI/AAAAAAAAQTw/1FlGJeUMCvAwrtWNnNqBskcv5mPuQt5iQCLcBGAs/s1600/OMG%2B2018%2BBlog%2Blogo%2Bmay.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="400" data-original-width="400" height="200" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TqcjMjO0FzE/Wv2v5Rjp-pI/AAAAAAAAQTw/1FlGJeUMCvAwrtWNnNqBskcv5mPuQt5iQCLcBGAs/s200/OMG%2B2018%2BBlog%2Blogo%2Bmay.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I finished all the applique stitching on my bee block</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Vf3Nri8qKkQ/Wv2ORUDHz3I/AAAAAAAAQTk/CpRBQ41DT9EDdqlT1YHBgrm0khEBOBLzgCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_2975.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Vf3Nri8qKkQ/Wv2ORUDHz3I/AAAAAAAAQTk/CpRBQ41DT9EDdqlT1YHBgrm0khEBOBLzgCEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_2975.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now, I just need to add the hand stitching embellishments.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-usb4kaB33pQ/Wv2OUo6ZDaI/AAAAAAAAQTk/LItBdFLEV-EmjMdU7tOwzvVUubYTqfs2gCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_2995.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-usb4kaB33pQ/Wv2OUo6ZDaI/AAAAAAAAQTk/LItBdFLEV-EmjMdU7tOwzvVUubYTqfs2gCEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_2995.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I added the borders to this quilt.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-l1jQEmeIoRM/Wv2OUqh8U7I/AAAAAAAAQTg/XdD613XbegEx90oLhUSyHq1jR_7OB6eqQCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_2994.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-l1jQEmeIoRM/Wv2OUqh8U7I/AAAAAAAAQTg/XdD613XbegEx90oLhUSyHq1jR_7OB6eqQCEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_2994.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
But, before I did, I discovered I still had 3 rows that I did not finish blanket stitching the inside of the flowers......18 more large circles and 18 more small circles finally, finally done!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-E8uI4VcrLdM/Wv2OSHJZ7bI/AAAAAAAAQTc/ZX1lNaGmdPY3t3nLDJhwFG5WfE6KjgEnACEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_2993.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-E8uI4VcrLdM/Wv2OSHJZ7bI/AAAAAAAAQTc/ZX1lNaGmdPY3t3nLDJhwFG5WfE6KjgEnACEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_2993.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have the backing sewn and ready to put this quilt top on the frame.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I hope some creative quilting idea pops into my head as I plant my garden.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
hmm...</div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />

I enjoy reading the Tuesday Archives over at <a href="http://myplvl.blogspot.com/2018/05/tuesday-archives-195-quilt-ladders.html" target="_blank">Val's Quilting Studio</a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This week, it's about quilt ladders.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
Since I didn't have any old posts about my quilt ladders, I decided to create a new one.</div>
It all goes back to my quilt studio in Idaho.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-c8HOSRnc4kw/WvLgigTmBLI/AAAAAAAAQRA/qbB5h8KdijEGqeq_cA8l87a6HLwxfbQ4gCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_0053.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-c8HOSRnc4kw/WvLgigTmBLI/AAAAAAAAQRA/qbB5h8KdijEGqeq_cA8l87a6HLwxfbQ4gCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_0053.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
After we sold the farm and moved to Ohio, this was the only thing I missed! I really love our new home here and I set up my studio here in my cozy basement. At least I don't have to shovel my way back and forth to the BunkHouse in the winter!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-kzuabDt6XBs/WvLu8bTrh8I/AAAAAAAAQRw/zlOiQVsN4-MQq3jXk_FiF0jZ66AFIBKsgCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_0715.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-kzuabDt6XBs/WvLu8bTrh8I/AAAAAAAAQRw/zlOiQVsN4-MQq3jXk_FiF0jZ66AFIBKsgCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_0715.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So here is a quilt ladder I had in Idaho.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uYPM7hU83-Y/WvLvwnX0MEI/AAAAAAAAQR4/-i_87ZdiyiQJxwfzig3Prc3wwjMGr0OAgCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_0159.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uYPM7hU83-Y/WvLvwnX0MEI/AAAAAAAAQR4/-i_87ZdiyiQJxwfzig3Prc3wwjMGr0OAgCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_0159.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It was an old orchard ladder that belonged to my husband's grandparents. The Grandmother's Flower Garden top was hand pieced by my grandmother and the Glorified 9 Patch was hand pieced by her mother, my Great-grandmother. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Of course, I still have the tops, but I left the ladder with my quilty niece when we moved, so it's still in the family. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We made this skinny ladder and I just hang random quilts on it in the corner of my studio to fill up this empty space.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qqtPodK1nWs/WvLyH92twGI/AAAAAAAAQSY/RYhY6MlX3XAb8U2JhBu_FeSOhgad8N4LwCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_2916.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="783" height="640" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qqtPodK1nWs/WvLyH92twGI/AAAAAAAAQSY/RYhY6MlX3XAb8U2JhBu_FeSOhgad8N4LwCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_2916.jpg" width="312" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We also made this attached wall ladder for the entrance of my Idaho studio. I used to hang the "next up" customer quilts on it. We brought it with us and it's the first thing I see as I go down my basement stairs. I have my own yet-to-be-quilted tops hanging here now.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3OLDblI5SQA/WvLvx4kx2zI/AAAAAAAAQSM/8JViheYpNW8UkTZG9MLcWQeKxPIif_W7ACEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_2918.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3OLDblI5SQA/WvLvx4kx2zI/AAAAAAAAQSM/8JViheYpNW8UkTZG9MLcWQeKxPIif_W7ACEwYBhgL/s320/IMG_2918.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is my favorite ladder.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It is an old painter's ladder I bought from an antique mall just down the road.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rSSM4WIeXOw/WvL224BSblI/AAAAAAAAQSk/v-8wBaMW-JENTkUmmWH_NpKYNVFcB6SiACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_2922.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rSSM4WIeXOw/WvL224BSblI/AAAAAAAAQSk/v-8wBaMW-JENTkUmmWH_NpKYNVFcB6SiACLcBGAs/s640/IMG_2922.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have it in my living room to display a few of my more recent quilts.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xRtAYrLknuc/WvDufSfNicI/AAAAAAAAQQg/XGDOwq8Utt8xrus07mbGm9MCpq3TF8VPACLcBGAs/s1600/OMG%2B2018%2BBlog%2Blogo%2Bmay.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="400" data-original-width="400" height="200" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xRtAYrLknuc/WvDufSfNicI/AAAAAAAAQQg/XGDOwq8Utt8xrus07mbGm9MCpq3TF8VPACLcBGAs/s200/OMG%2B2018%2BBlog%2Blogo%2Bmay.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OvGQLJMfnKc/WvDsZgjgx7I/AAAAAAAAQQE/zgqhtBKqtskJk1FPTEAuO9o8EfmK8wpogCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_2889.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OvGQLJMfnKc/WvDsZgjgx7I/AAAAAAAAQQE/zgqhtBKqtskJk1FPTEAuO9o8EfmK8wpogCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_2889.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The applique is all ironed on, so my next step will be to blanket stitch it all down. I am going to do the entire quilt in black thread. I think it looks more um...rustic, primitive, not sure either of those are the right word, maybe more charming? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
While I was running all these little pieces through my Bernina, I was also using my left over squares from the last quilt as leaders and enders....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I hope we get some real Bees, just look at the apple blossoms!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
She made this quilt to reflect the cover of the book: </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.amazon.com/Wild-Robot-Peter-Brown/dp/0316381993" target="_blank">The Wild Robot by Peter Brown</a>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-M082lOD_bMc/Wu4z_PitzSI/AAAAAAAAQKY/MXgqFAJ_C8UEz5HZf52dMzYHCYUQMvMagCLcBGAs/s1600/516KJ8Rsa9L._SX342_BO1%252C204%252C203%252C200_.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="499" data-original-width="344" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-M082lOD_bMc/Wu4z_PitzSI/AAAAAAAAQKY/MXgqFAJ_C8UEz5HZf52dMzYHCYUQMvMagCLcBGAs/s400/516KJ8Rsa9L._SX342_BO1%252C204%252C203%252C200_.jpg" width="275" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So, my OMG for May will be the first block:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kxpLtkiq0RQ/WuchSZKyk1I/AAAAAAAAQHA/G4y0kcNJ2Skkvwe55Pg-YT8WGALmtoSNwCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_2533.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kxpLtkiq0RQ/WuchSZKyk1I/AAAAAAAAQHA/G4y0kcNJ2Skkvwe55Pg-YT8WGALmtoSNwCEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_2533.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I was so excited when I dug it out of my considerable stash of projects, I have already started . . . just a little.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hstftNS_RXk/WuchSehoxbI/AAAAAAAAQHI/_R-iEFQ_Gz8Vgo04kpSQPD84kONcuK7dQCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_2532.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hstftNS_RXk/WuchSehoxbI/AAAAAAAAQHI/_R-iEFQ_Gz8Vgo04kpSQPD84kONcuK7dQCEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_2532.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In addition to that single block, I plan to finish this quilt. You may remember it from earlier posts <a href="http://bunkhousequilts.blogspot.com/2017/05/design-wall-monday.html" target="_blank">here</a> and <a href="http://bunkhousequilts.blogspot.com/2017/05/time-for-break.html" target="_blank">here</a>.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It needs a border and then quilted.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So, I should be able to squeeze in these 2 projects for my OMG for May!</div>

My April "One Monthly Goal" is finished.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-93iWzR7GcZo/WuCsYtDdloI/AAAAAAAAQDE/xbc4appnx8ckHW309CNoKWxCrVUQQV59wCLcBGAs/s1600/OMG%2B2018%2BBlog%2Blogo%2BApr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="400" data-original-width="400" height="200" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-93iWzR7GcZo/WuCsYtDdloI/AAAAAAAAQDE/xbc4appnx8ckHW309CNoKWxCrVUQQV59wCLcBGAs/s200/OMG%2B2018%2BBlog%2Blogo%2BApr.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
My goal was just to get the top pieced, but cold rainy weather here in Ohio gave me more time to sew and quilt...<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
...so I quilted it and it's bound! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mnYEabDyScA/WuCskum7djI/AAAAAAAAQDI/9NeUIfCefhwQjSqyptuW8rBDTStfZHDSgCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_2500.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1459" data-original-width="1132" height="640" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mnYEabDyScA/WuCskum7djI/AAAAAAAAQDI/9NeUIfCefhwQjSqyptuW8rBDTStfZHDSgCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_2500.jpg" width="496" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Pieced entirely from my scrap bins.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="text-align: center;">Because I needed to balance the open quilting in the colored X blocks, the neutral areas are done with a freehand wreath with </span>large fluffy, open, bump-back feathers. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9_uO_bbr2dA/WuFTAOCw9XI/AAAAAAAAQD0/tYU8l-yGUEIUSlTfjCupbmez_--d2LAVQCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_2471.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9_uO_bbr2dA/WuFTAOCw9XI/AAAAAAAAQD0/tYU8l-yGUEIUSlTfjCupbmez_--d2LAVQCLcBGAs/s400/IMG_2471.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
I wanted to go for a "faceted" jewel look in the x blocks.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4qIqxfiCCkE/WuFTC-vq6nI/AAAAAAAAQEE/7vnTbyFHPVgML3uLIw0ILbcO45aWtS3DgCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_2472.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4qIqxfiCCkE/WuFTC-vq6nI/AAAAAAAAQEE/7vnTbyFHPVgML3uLIw0ILbcO45aWtS3DgCLcBGAs/s400/IMG_2472.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Sew Fine thread: light grey on all the colored areas and beige on the neutrals. Grey in the bobbin for both.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QkDf58hvUF4/WuFTCjUwsNI/AAAAAAAAQEA/gSY8V0zSg0InBnPVCqlFAdr9jGwKY1sogCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_2474.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QkDf58hvUF4/WuFTCjUwsNI/AAAAAAAAQEA/gSY8V0zSg0InBnPVCqlFAdr9jGwKY1sogCLcBGAs/s320/IMG_2474.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I found a 1/2" thick 100% poly batting leftover scrap on my shelf from several years ago that was the perfect size.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
As I browsed through my backings, I just happened to have plenty of this purple!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5V4-_AGVRjY/WuFTAiWZN2I/AAAAAAAAQE0/4I2fftCED_MywXU-rI6cu2kvwt3iembIACEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_2468.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5V4-_AGVRjY/WuFTAiWZN2I/AAAAAAAAQE0/4I2fftCED_MywXU-rI6cu2kvwt3iembIACEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_2468.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
When I got to the binding I auditioned several colors, purple like the backing, orange, green, neutral, blue.....Nothing was working! I just didn't want to break up the effect of the colored sections of the border. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So, here's what happened:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XQ6qFl4qMPI/WuFmejyUz0I/AAAAAAAAQGA/cTiBB0F7Mn4pnRVviBl6wg5kfBfHduhYgCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_2475.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1283" data-original-width="1435" height="572" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XQ6qFl4qMPI/WuFmejyUz0I/AAAAAAAAQGA/cTiBB0F7Mn4pnRVviBl6wg5kfBfHduhYgCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_2475.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have never pieced a binding like this before, but it didn't turn out too bad.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4aM8eKRhHyg/WuFTJnbTqmI/AAAAAAAAQFA/5pYt1OvbIsgrVbIF15CgX6wFFT5xIeyjACEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_2496.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4aM8eKRhHyg/WuFTJnbTqmI/AAAAAAAAQFA/5pYt1OvbIsgrVbIF15CgX6wFFT5xIeyjACEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_2496.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is the quilt before and after the binding--</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tLq4-OmZPi8/WuFcf5iy-LI/AAAAAAAAQFk/m4zlAKIW3HQ0FbjAZ6-U906P88M2k8hrQCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_2470.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tLq4-OmZPi8/WuFcf5iy-LI/AAAAAAAAQFk/m4zlAKIW3HQ0FbjAZ6-U906P88M2k8hrQCLcBGAs/s320/IMG_2470.jpg" width="240" /></a><a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yS5a5uNwLWI/WuFSKlkC-DI/AAAAAAAAQDs/9Jf8L3YOXLQ8mmChlUUWN8VNmacDRfTuwCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_2502%2B-%2BCopy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1381" data-original-width="1137" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yS5a5uNwLWI/WuFSKlkC-DI/AAAAAAAAQDs/9Jf8L3YOXLQ8mmChlUUWN8VNmacDRfTuwCEwYBhgL/s320/IMG_2502%2B-%2BCopy.jpg" width="263" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It melts right into the colored piecing.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FAVGcadw8n8/WuFTH8XE_FI/AAAAAAAAQE4/HaaOXNG2Q8wrq9s5dMPJUKT4L-AI_KpPwCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_2485.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FAVGcadw8n8/WuFTH8XE_FI/AAAAAAAAQE4/HaaOXNG2Q8wrq9s5dMPJUKT4L-AI_KpPwCEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_2485.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I <i>always </i>machine bind my quilts....and I <i>always </i>stitch it to the back and then bring the binding to the front to top-stitch. However, I didn't think I could do that and still match the colors.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6yk_Dsivd1Q/WuFTEX0XPYI/AAAAAAAAQFA/yxgQ1ScvPug2lsIdHa1lSvnHm7gs9Gi0ACEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_2476.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6yk_Dsivd1Q/WuFTEX0XPYI/AAAAAAAAQFA/yxgQ1ScvPug2lsIdHa1lSvnHm7gs9Gi0ACEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_2476.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So, I top stitched from the back.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here's how I do it.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I fold the binding so the edge just matches up the row of stitching where I attached it to the other side.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UI13mTaksFs/WuFTE1phUsI/AAAAAAAAQFA/4ItEOXRXRYkvT9-ZoV9EBEidE_4mely5QCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_2477.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UI13mTaksFs/WuFTE1phUsI/AAAAAAAAQFA/4ItEOXRXRYkvT9-ZoV9EBEidE_4mely5QCEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_2477.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-n0PcD31e4w8/WuFTEy-hTZI/AAAAAAAAQE8/huFCz9gz4SYev3Dp7-oTinkfeqcbcbAjACEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_2478.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-n0PcD31e4w8/WuFTEy-hTZI/AAAAAAAAQE8/huFCz9gz4SYev3Dp7-oTinkfeqcbcbAjACEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_2478.jpg" width="480" /></a><br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
With the fold exactly on the stitched row, I move the needle over one space to the right and guide the fold along the left inside of my presser foot. Bu moving the needle over you are assured of getting a nice even topstitch on both sides. I have to use my old Bernina 153 because I can't override the computer on my 820 to let me move the needle over with the #37 foot. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZEr3oATnL30/WuFTGpUt5GI/AAAAAAAAQE4/a56IZSUvuPQH0NqBRDObxFZdAGkfWI4sgCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_2479.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZEr3oATnL30/WuFTGpUt5GI/AAAAAAAAQE4/a56IZSUvuPQH0NqBRDObxFZdAGkfWI4sgCEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_2479.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I hold it nice and flat with my seam ripper as I sew.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ptAad5DlSzc/WuFj2eYhPcI/AAAAAAAAQF0/DGA9dgKxo3cJhMIsejS7qh7TytbOqU9ggCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_2481.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1161" data-original-width="1512" height="490" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ptAad5DlSzc/WuFj2eYhPcI/AAAAAAAAQF0/DGA9dgKxo3cJhMIsejS7qh7TytbOqU9ggCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_2481.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
You can easily make perfect corners too.<br />
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CCgadEgBAdw/WuFTHTGeT1I/AAAAAAAAQE0/B_BFwBtSsOQyGFRQ-TeLzdV10u8OyBwCQCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_2480.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CCgadEgBAdw/WuFTHTGeT1I/AAAAAAAAQE0/B_BFwBtSsOQyGFRQ-TeLzdV10u8OyBwCQCEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_2480.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Binding for a lap sized quilt like this takes about 45 min to cut, stitch, fold and press and attach--front and back.</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
This one took about 3 hours because of the piecing, fitting the next color after turning the corner, stitching, turning the corner and stopping to attach the next color... I don't recommend it but I love it for this quilt. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

I love them both!<br />
<br />
They were both pieced entirely from my scrap bins.<br />

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The final seam was pressed last night.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Now that I am <a href="http://bunkhousequilts.blogspot.com/2018/02/im-not-afraid-of-scrappy-quilts.html" target="_blank">Not Afraid of Scrappy Quilts</a>, my goal for 2018 is to make as many different quilts as I can, using up as many of my scraps as possible.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Every inch of this quilt top came from these scrap bins.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DCt74PYP0I0/WtnuSERYFiI/AAAAAAAAP_Y/q3blNPevctEPY_SN_3lEjENn1X2-mLSkgCLcBGAs/s1600/20170504_202520_resized.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="360" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DCt74PYP0I0/WtnuSERYFiI/AAAAAAAAP_Y/q3blNPevctEPY_SN_3lEjENn1X2-mLSkgCLcBGAs/s640/20170504_202520_resized.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For future quilts, I also plan to "shop" from my fat quarter and yardage stash.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
...and extra yardage for backings.</div>

<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ni26TVcBfQA/Wtn9U41Zv6I/AAAAAAAAQAU/ztXFU73w90o77bTNUN_D_1FJaTI8ldpwwCEwYBhgL/s1600/20170505_094933_resized.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="360" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ni26TVcBfQA/Wtn9U41Zv6I/AAAAAAAAQAU/ztXFU73w90o77bTNUN_D_1FJaTI8ldpwwCEwYBhgL/s640/20170505_094933_resized.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
When tasked to use up what is available one is forced to think in creative ways that might not have occurred otherwise.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The colored X blocks were pretty slow to sew, as each one required a layout: then piecing, pressing, matching, sewing, pressing, etc. Mind numbing.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SwoBvQPiZSk/WtnqS2e-EYI/AAAAAAAAP_A/uMHQxLTbHow3zknwyhXftDjnzwNEncyJgCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_2380.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SwoBvQPiZSk/WtnqS2e-EYI/AAAAAAAAP_A/uMHQxLTbHow3zknwyhXftDjnzwNEncyJgCEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_2380.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jTghw_L-8s4/WtnqTu3ELpI/AAAAAAAAP_A/VCIX9nSCq4wO-2zaxCYRRFScqNjDKoZJQCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_2390.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1202" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jTghw_L-8s4/WtnqTu3ELpI/AAAAAAAAP_A/VCIX9nSCq4wO-2zaxCYRRFScqNjDKoZJQCEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_2390.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
However, the alternate neutral 16 patch blocks were a no-brainier chain piece project.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9fFmC4eq2lU/WtnqUCeuqJI/AAAAAAAAP_E/pX6HFUg1hoINBILUGahYpiBH3_Rvm52WwCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_2391.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9fFmC4eq2lU/WtnqUCeuqJI/AAAAAAAAP_E/pX6HFUg1hoINBILUGahYpiBH3_Rvm52WwCEwYBhgL/s320/IMG_2391.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I even kept a pile of neutral patches by my side and used them as leaders and enders, so I was able to piece several neutral blocks while I was sewing the X blocks.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mr8sMcQJ7_0/WtnqR2i5uwI/AAAAAAAAP-8/OoTFeOq8E2gzhT6njWD_g8GyAtPY73APwCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_2378.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mr8sMcQJ7_0/WtnqR2i5uwI/AAAAAAAAP-8/OoTFeOq8E2gzhT6njWD_g8GyAtPY73APwCEwYBhgL/s320/IMG_2378.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Notice the purple strip markings on my machine? Those are Q Tools by Marci Baker. I have used these for about 7 years and can't sew without them. The right one is 1/4 inch, the left one is lined up with the needle. This way I can sew half square triangles without ever marking them. Learn how I use them here:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://bunkhousequilts.blogspot.com/2012/02/design-wall-today.html" target="_blank">Q Tools </a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It was strange to make, I just picked a couple of colors for the first block and then it grew outward from there,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_UxBDXrbutQ/WtnyjhOLQEI/AAAAAAAAP_4/LH2Z0ijdc1wTcntVLkcCxAi0jagTIR9ygCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_2337.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_UxBDXrbutQ/WtnyjhOLQEI/AAAAAAAAP_4/LH2Z0ijdc1wTcntVLkcCxAi0jagTIR9ygCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_2337.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
When I got the blocks all done and on the design wall, I decided to add the border to the blocks and <i>then </i>sew the rows.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qFwu7LmqcGk/WtnqUVh0mGI/AAAAAAAAP_I/x7YNmm24iH0EZx1iYK8RxBYYeKvVnq7gwCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_2403.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qFwu7LmqcGk/WtnqUVh0mGI/AAAAAAAAP_I/x7YNmm24iH0EZx1iYK8RxBYYeKvVnq7gwCEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_2403.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
There were so many seams, I didn't want the edges to all come apart if I handled the entire top too much. I also stay-stitched all the border edges as I went.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6NXiJgngyTo/Wtnxc7X4YKI/AAAAAAAAP_o/DHj1i2UZ-roZ0fCrU7w0TsFI5H1r-SSEACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_2393.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1052" data-original-width="1600" height="420" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6NXiJgngyTo/Wtnxc7X4YKI/AAAAAAAAP_o/DHj1i2UZ-roZ0fCrU7w0TsFI5H1r-SSEACLcBGAs/s640/IMG_2393.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So, since my 2018 goal is to use up my scraps; as I stitched the rows together and assembled the quilt top, I started feeding through (leaders and enders) to use up the leftover 2.5" pieces for my <i>next </i>quilt.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-lAUW2A1wHNI/WteYmasFU2I/AAAAAAAAP8c/laFFXfSCpiwRBwSMmd5Jp84r-6GQgGP6QCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_2422.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-lAUW2A1wHNI/WteYmasFU2I/AAAAAAAAP8c/laFFXfSCpiwRBwSMmd5Jp84r-6GQgGP6QCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_2422.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Ingredients:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
1) 2.5 yards of 60" wide fleece</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
2) 2.5 yards of 60" wide denim</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
3) Batting. I like to use Hobbs 80/20.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have quilted them with the fleece on top.... </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5s13D6l7FKE/WteYPV3x6eI/AAAAAAAAP8Y/bpvfLASmshoLYCOsSNVZuAMzKp3miu-PgCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_2423.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5s13D6l7FKE/WteYPV3x6eI/AAAAAAAAP8Y/bpvfLASmshoLYCOsSNVZuAMzKp3miu-PgCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_2423.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
.....or the denim on top.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-dQifJdQdOP4/WteYM40RrwI/AAAAAAAAP8g/EywbtKCcC4om6w6igYcMnjsb2pCPVI7FACEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_20141210_214820_442.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="358" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-dQifJdQdOP4/WteYM40RrwI/AAAAAAAAP8g/EywbtKCcC4om6w6igYcMnjsb2pCPVI7FACEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_20141210_214820_442.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It just depends on which piece is slightly larger. I only have an inch or so around the perimeter of the sandwich anyway, so if one is slightly bigger, I put that on the bottom.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
These are fast and easy to make and are great quilts to take to hockey games and feel pretty good during spring and fall soccer. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This one ended up 55 x 88.</div>

I have decided to attach the border as I assemble the quilt.<br />
<br />
This way, I can stay-stitch the edges as I go.<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-C30uaAKP3_k/WtNvXA4iR9I/AAAAAAAAP6o/qiDDPUe6qzs__XmnG7_HnxGFj0f0Iv0NwCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_2393.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-C30uaAKP3_k/WtNvXA4iR9I/AAAAAAAAP6o/qiDDPUe6qzs__XmnG7_HnxGFj0f0Iv0NwCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_2393.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Sdg_4cYH0v4/WtOKWLx9-fI/AAAAAAAAP7I/Vs_-5c5Cr9cx0DWxvelRGLeNPxnFbWjKgCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_2400.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Sdg_4cYH0v4/WtOKWLx9-fI/AAAAAAAAP7I/Vs_-5c5Cr9cx0DWxvelRGLeNPxnFbWjKgCEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_2400.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here are the first rows stitched together.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NdVccYyzcpc/WtOKKmKWkjI/AAAAAAAAP68/aS_XnNhWMo0U42DF3cZY76_EwWkCCkwOwCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_2403.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NdVccYyzcpc/WtOKKmKWkjI/AAAAAAAAP68/aS_XnNhWMo0U42DF3cZY76_EwWkCCkwOwCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_2403.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
With a seam just waiting to pop open every 2 inches, I feel like I am working on a spider web...trying to keep all this piecing together. </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
By sewing this quilt top together 2 rows a time, then sewing those larger rows together, etc., I am not wrangling the larger bulk of the quilt through the machine for every row. If I can keep it smaller, there will be less chance to unravel a stitched seam.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So far, so good. 😊</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Here are all my finished quilts for this H2H Challenge.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Winter weather kept hanging around here in Ohio, so I just kept quilting and digging through my scraps and leftover yardage from past quilts. I had to add only 3 yards of new fabric! </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I sent these 3 to Little Lambs</div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
You might remember it:</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hSGHp0qnKYA/WtC2tYGy8ZI/AAAAAAAAP2k/cUaH4Rqf4SYRY_0dYHd43uax45IT6aKCwCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_1973.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1280" data-original-width="1124" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hSGHp0qnKYA/WtC2tYGy8ZI/AAAAAAAAP2k/cUaH4Rqf4SYRY_0dYHd43uax45IT6aKCwCLcBGAs/s320/IMG_1973.jpg" width="281" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The 16 patch blocks were scrappy colors, the X blocks were mostly neutral.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-T8HT4zaB6KI/WtC3GAQA5sI/AAAAAAAAP28/4GYGyonvlH4FYlTR9VjTPTNOZAXKX4DkQCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_1919.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-T8HT4zaB6KI/WtC3GAQA5sI/AAAAAAAAP28/4GYGyonvlH4FYlTR9VjTPTNOZAXKX4DkQCLcBGAs/s320/IMG_1919.jpg" width="240" /></a><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3OEB4l9NWEw/WtC213vnN6I/AAAAAAAAP2o/GOACdt_y2AYNyrn_iKFRspRuR1zQ9c0GACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_1863.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3OEB4l9NWEw/WtC213vnN6I/AAAAAAAAP2o/GOACdt_y2AYNyrn_iKFRspRuR1zQ9c0GACLcBGAs/s320/IMG_1863.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Well, what if I reversed the color concept and made the blocks like this? </div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Scrappy neutrals for the 16 patch and scrappy colored piecing for the X blocks....</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I just finished all the blocks last night and this is what I ended up with:</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tAigaNM2I6E/WtC3A5vFfeI/AAAAAAAAP3I/aWCFvclR-BsbtFnHVV5ud-v9qnBsyZr5QCEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_2388.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tAigaNM2I6E/WtC3A5vFfeI/AAAAAAAAP3I/aWCFvclR-BsbtFnHVV5ud-v9qnBsyZr5QCEwYBhgL/s640/IMG_2388.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>

Here is a design wall update on my "reverse" Arkansas Crossroad quilt.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It's pretty dang slow to piece.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But I really like it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It's probably the only quilt I have ever pieced that had to basically grow and spread from one corner section outward to the rest of the quilt. The random color design is just happening as I go.</div>
