Granddaughter's Quilt

So, this is the last quilt for my grand-kids...now they all have one for their beds.  It took me almost a year to finish this one.
I was able to stitch the entire quilt in black. 
I didn't use a pattern, but I made it from a layer-cake of black and one layer-cake of bright solids and one matching jellyroll of bright solids.

 I knew when I saw this fun print, it was meant to be the backing for this quilt.

  1. Perfect backing fabric. The top is a bit like my Entertwined quilt for my son's wedding (lots of HST's)

  2. Bold and so attractive! LOVE that fun backing. I'm looking at buying a longarm this year, and I'd like to ask what is covering the bar on top of the quilt in the second photo - does it have a special function?
