Leaders and Enders Charity Quilt

Done!

I used a Hobbs Cloud high-loft batting so this quilt is more like a comforter.

I made all the blocks during the piecing of  2 other quilts using the charms as leaders and enders.
You can check it out here.

Since I only needed 16 blocks, I used all the remaining charms to make a strip for the backing...

...because, I love pieced backings.

I Spy Baby Quilt

Finished this I Spy quilt last night.
I just did a simple stitch in the ditch with a fun squiggle down the sashing.

I have 2 bolts of this yummy dark chocolate minky...
...and since it is for a little boy, I cut a piece for the backing.

I explored my thread colors and finally came up with this So Fine thread called "Sagebrush"t hat really blended with all the colors.  I used it top and back, because it never shows your color on minky anyway.

Design Wall

...so while I was waiting for a packet of fabric in the mail...

I started this large block quilt and it was on my design wall for a couple of days.
Now, before you get excited, the applique center is made from cheater fabric.  I could never do this type of applique.  I would never have enough patience.

...
I need to make an I Spy baby quilt for a boy, so I ordered a packet of pre-cuts from Etsy.
Once it came, I took this down.

Here is what I replaced it with, I just finished this I Spy flimsy tonight and am excited about the bright colors.

All the blocks are bordered with leftover fabric from this quilt.

How fun is that?

Leaders and Enders Quilt

Well, I started using a single charm pack as leaders and enders about 2 years ago.  Without even trying, I finished up all these blocks while sewing other quilts.  Last week, I added some borders to make this into a twin sized charity quilt.
After I got all the charms sewn, I just used what was in my stash to put it all together, very simple quilt and I am looking forward to quilting it next month.

I have a link to an older post telling about my leader and ender project here.

I even used up the last of the charms to make the best use of fabric yardage for the backing.
I love pieced backings!

Granddaughter's Quilt

So, this is the last quilt for my grand-kids...now they all have one for their beds.  It took me almost a year to finish this one.
I was able to stitch the entire quilt in black.
I didn't use a pattern, but I made it from a layer-cake of black and one layer-cake of bright solids and one matching jellyroll of bright solids.

I have a link to a previous post how I made the half square triangles here.

I have a link to how I sewed them together here.

I knew when I saw this fun print, it was meant to be the backing for this quilt.

Hazel Hedgehog Pillow

Hazel Hedgehog.
This super cute pattern is by Elizabeth Hartman.
First, I went to my stash and picked out the perfect batiks.

It was quick to cut and sew...and fun to do!
Here she is before I appliqued her horn rim glasses.

Oh my, this makes ALL the difference!

...and look at her cute "fuzzy" little legs.

Here she is after freehand spikey meandering.

The pillow back, I just made parallel wavy lines

Now, all she needs is a pillow form...
 ...to tuck inside.  Easy Peasy!

QOV #79 & #80

Quilt of Valor #79 & #80

Finished up my last 2 Al Lind tops last week.
What an honor to quilt 22 of his tops over the past 6 years.

I used Square Spiral by Karyn Emmerson on both of these quilts.  Thanks to June Moore for sending this perfect blue fabric.  I had enough to make the borders and use for the backing.

The border fabric and this backing I pulled from my stash, I have a whole bolt of it and I love it!

Here they are awaiting a destination.
The 3rd one with the yellow binding I quilted some time ago, and blogged about it here.

Presentation cases done.

Washed and stacked...I love walking in the studio and seeing these silently waiting.

I will follow up when I get a destination and let you know where they are sent.
